STRIPPER AVOIDS TAXES?

Janna-Doheny

Janna Doheny, a 43 year old stripper from Brooklyn’s Oceanside neighborhood, Brighton Beach was charged with understating her income to the IRS in order to gain Medicaid benefits for herself and her daughter. This situation is a major lesson for all Sex Workers.

Peep game—Ms. Doheny was working in Queens in a strip club and claimed on her taxes that she made little to no money. A mere $1,550. I guess nobody told her that the IRS actually do audits and buying several luxury apartments from Brighton Beach to South Florida might raise a red flag. I know that health insurance is a big problem for our industry. If the nine to five Americans have problems getting coverage then you already know Sex Workers getting insured is probably non-existent. Obamacare brings hope for 2014 but we really need to take matters in our own hands. Nobody is gonna treat you better that you treat yourself. Set aside a couple of hundred dollars a week and purchase some health care.

Janna is accused of scamming $29,000. That’s peanuts compared to the $170,000 they found in a safe deposit in 2004, allegedly belonging to her while she and her daughter received Medicaid benefits. I know and understand the way some may think—work the system, don’t let the system work you. To me working the system is setting up your own system to avoid becoming a part of the system. That goes for all systems—jail system, welfare system and any system that threatens your health or safety. Repeat after me—Leave It Alone!
