MASSAGE PARLOR CONSPIRACY?

Cheng-Port-1

J. Robert Port, the Albany Times Union investigations editor steps down from his position and cries foul play. A couple of months back his wife, Bin Cheng’s place of business, Green Garden Asian spa was raided amid prostitution allegations. Mr. Port say’s it’s retaliation for his articles criticizing the Albany police force, the mayor and the government about its drug enforcement unit.

A 53 year old massage therapist, Mia Lin, was charged with prostitution in the raid. The police alleged the five-thousand dollars Ms. Lin had in her possession makes a strong case that sex acts were taking place. Mr. Port’s version is slightly different. He said a police officer stripped naked and jerked off in front of Ms. Lin. The truth prolly lies somewhere in between both sides of the story.

Mr. Port’s articles shed light on the police department of Albany using cash and property seized in drug raids to buy new vehicles. Mr. Port also claims police mistakenly strip searched another Asian woman thinking she was his wife. Here’s some jewels for my fellow journalist and Sex Worker advocate: Mr. Port, you did the right thing by stepping down from your position at the paper. Wait until the case against your wife is settled. As for Ms. Bin Cheng, I say don’t back down. If you need inspiration during the fight- YouTube Fifty Cent’s song “Back Down”. Basically the song tells you not to retreat. Hold fast. Prove them wrong by showing sex work can be legit.
