What the police will never understand is this: the professionals that work in the sex Industry want to assist the police in doing their jobs. Shutting down Backpage.com won’t stop sex trafficking. Working the people in the industry to correct errors and weed out the bad apples, will go a long way in the fight to make this industry respectable.
If the police would stop and think for a minute, the answer lies right in front of them. Why would Sex Workers want to help them do their job if they threaten their livelihood by criticizing and making it hard for them to work? If you show that you’re willing to accept that adult women can choose to work in the sex industry and you publicly support them, I guarantee they will help solve most crimes committed in the industry. The only support Sex Workers get from phony politicians and police officers are when they are paying customers and nobody is looking.
