New York City cab drivers are being taught how to pick up a Sex Worker. I bullshit you not! This stems from a sextrafficking case where the so-called pimps had Sex Workers turning dates in taxis. So of course bureaucratic nonsense was sure to soon follow. Taxi’s officials made an anti-sextrafficking video supposedly to teach drivers when and when not to pick up a Sex Worker. I mean it don’t get no dumber than this. I get the mentality of helping a ho out who is in need, but “Captain Save-A-Ho” don’t drive no yellow cab.
Resources would have been better spent consulting Sex Workers and letting them figure out the best anti-sextrafficking method. What the police will never understand is that the sex industry as a whole is anti-sextrafficking. Even though I feel the term sextrafficking is some made up shock value political jargon, some people in the sex industry are participating against their will. The number is smaller than the media wants you to think but one person being taken advantage of is unacceptable.
The video explains that picking up Sex Workers is okay but driving helpless hoes around for pimps is not okay. Do you feel more educated now that I told you that?—I didn’t think so. The video makes it clear that taxi drivers can’t turn a Sex Worker away based on her occupation. It’s common sense. You don’t need a nine minute video to tell you right from wrong. The anti-sextrafficking bill was passed after a father and son duo was charged with using livery drivers to bring Sex Workers to their tricks. Some Sex Workers took care of business right in the back seat of the taxi.
We still got a long way to go before this square society accepts Sex Workers as legit. If you know anyone working against their will, help them escape. Call the authorities if need be. We need to show the squares that we can govern ourselves.
