The Washington legislature signed a new bill into law on Thursday, March 29, 2012 requiring sites within the state to obtain documentation that escorts advertised online are at least 18 years of age. First things first, let’s give a big round of applause to Governor, Christine Gregoire for signing the bill into law, making Washington state a trend-setter for others to follow. Cool, I can dig that!
What these squares don’t understand is this:
Sex workers want to help law enforcement do their jobs. It’s better for the industry if child sex trafficking is kept off sites where legitimate Sex Workers try to make a living. The unsung hero in all this mess continues to be Village Voice Media. They have unequivocally stood on their square fighting for Sex Workers to have the same rights as everybody else. The Village Voice Media stated they have no plans to shut Backpage.com down and they are thinking about challenging Washington State’s groundbreaking law. Village Voice media is in compliance with the law. They chose not to fall victim to the politricks tryna use this as an angle for re-election.
Please go out and support all things Village Voice Media. They own the Seattle Weekly. To all my Sex Workers in Seattle– unity is strength. Show support for those who support you VVM is a Sex Worker friend to the end. So what last year mayor Mike McGinn from Seattle pulled all city advertising from the Seattle Weekly. Like we give a fuck! Seattle escorts, smarten-up! Spend your money with those that support you openly! We all know and understand that politricians support us when society and their wives ain’t looking, but let’s not play the blame game. Keep in mind Sex Workers are the ones who get abused, so those that participate freely on their own will, support and applaud all efforts by the government to keep out all illegal activities.
